Using low-cost, easily accessible parts and an established curriculum, students learn tool safety and technical procedures to get hands-on experience with basic marine engineering, design and science concepts. The SeaPerch program provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics as well as science, technology engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) from a kit. After the SeaPerch robot is constructed and tested, students are encouraged to compete in a local or regional SeaPerch competition to qualify for the International SeaPerch Challenge.
